Pitch presentation

In my presentation i mentioned that i would like to have my music video in a night club, the reason for this being is that i want to give my music video a night club atmosphere, and i want my song to cut to the beat really fast, however i forgot to mention that i would like there to be a smoke machine, in the night club so it makes the empty space look full up so for instance if there isnt that many people in my music video the, smoke machine will cover for that giving the shot a misty and cool look.

My audience probable said that the strengths of my music video would be the technicality off it and my locations for it, so for instance i mentioned it would be shot mostly in a night club that i have permission for so already i have covered the main issue for my music video which would be the locations so it shows i have strengths in my strategies for my music videos and the expression in my ideas. I would also so that my audience beliefs that i have stuck to my budget and that it covers as one of my strong points, because i have been able to provide my audience with facts and proof of my allegations made during my pitch.

My audience did say that i can make a couple of improvements so for instance they said the music video sounds to basic and doesn't have an element of surprise or a new feel to it, so i was thinking on working on there feedback and might add different concepts to my music videos or even maybe a new location and a twist to the lyrics. However i will also need to consider more of my camera angles and techniques before making my music video because i think most importantly that's how you get your emotions out to your target audience through camera language.

The changes that i will  probable make to my music video  will be, the use of props so for instance if i cant get all the nice cars i wont i will probable have to think off a new concept for that scene and i might have to add different ideas into one so for instance i really wasn't considering to use green screen however if i cant mange to get the shots i want from my locations i will have to make do with the green screen and think about what shots i wont to add from there, however i don't really want to use green screen because i think it will make the music video look less realistic and might add an element of falseness to it.

Andrew Goodwin

Andrew Goodwin's Theory
"Dancing in the Distraction factory: Music television and popular culture"
 Illustrating
what illustrating means is that the lyrics go with the music video, so for instance, when lonely island crew member says i Jizz in my pants that's exactly what happens, you can see this at 36 seconds playing in to the video. Another bit in the music video you can see illustration is when one of the members goes to the grocery store by his own and says "I look above and i see her face when she asked for cash or cheque i jizz in my pants"

Amplification
Amplification is when a music video starts off and starts the beat slowly and quitly so what happens is when it gets amplified the beat starts to progress and rapidly get faster or louder, we can see this in Swedish house mafia, but whats different with that is the beat starts to build up then it quietens down, however you can feel the tempo and beat build up until it explodes, so at 1.13 seconds that.s when the beat slows down, then at 1.40 minutes the beat explodes so that's what amplification is.

Contradicting
The difference with contradicting is that what the lyrics are saying they are going against the video but still cuts to the beat, also intellextuality can link in with contradicting the lyrics, making the music video have a different edge to it. so for instance in this Bruno mars track he says ill catch a grenade for you but what he is actually doing is just pulling a piano down the road, so that contradicts what he is saying because hes doing the total opposite.

Iconography
Iconography is the use or certain visual elements and images to catalyst a more wide association with a topic . in my case the use of certain key points show a specific music genre or artists so for instance wiz kid you can see that he is wearing designer glasses which connotes the he is very reconcilable, also he is wearing designer clothes which represents hes fame and taste, plus he is wearing jewelery which symbolizes money and the grime stereo typical types.

close-ups
Record labels will usually demand that the film maker should have a lot of close ups of the artist because it will show more emotion and more identification, which will make the artists face well known which can promote fame from the paparazzi and get well known around the world, so for instance "L-MO life is what you make it" is a unsigned artists but when you watch his music video you can notice his emotion through his facial expression.

Voyeurism

Voyeurism is about how the artist gets attention by adding females to music videos and gaining attention by the male sexual gaze. This then attracts male members around the world, so for instance if a male looked at this music video he wouldn't be thinking about the lyrics he would be thinking of something else,

Inter-textual
what This means is that when watching a music video it refers to another in the lyrics, so for instance there is a music video that refers to another music video which is chamillionaire riding dirty-which then mixed with

"Weird Al" Yankovic - White & Nerdy

Style and conventions of music videos

Style and conventions

Performance,concert and "as- live"
The styles show that some music videos can have the band performing live for example The Swedish house mafia Don't worry child, this shows that the band and the artist decide to take there live concert and turn it  into their music video. The reasons they try and do this is because it makes the music video more unique in its own way and gives the viewers a feeling that they where there at the concert,

The main reason they will use that type of style in this music video is because, it adds more reality to the viewers and making the music video an exciting experience to watch, however it is a clever technique to use because it then combines reality in the artists eyes and gives the viewer an experience to see what they see when they are on stage looking at 1 millions of people and the atmosphere they are subjected to all the time, they also use a lot of different camera effects in this music video so for instance at 3.33 you can see that the people are mirrored on the other side giving an effect they are crowed next to each other making it look like an energy rush feeling type of concert. The Audience also has a lot of control in this video because with out them it wouldnt give the video that same effect, for instance at 1.45-2.00, you can see the audience jump up and down to the beat of the song giving it a party feeling effect. I would like to use the styles in their music video because i like the tention and atmophere it creates so for future referemce i would look back at this music video.
Narrative
Narrative is about when a story is being told in the music video and it matches its props and background, so for instance if the song is about some one dieing it would show a viseul representation of that happening so for instance it would show a coffin that links to the death, so basicle the music video relates with the lyrics.
The institution would use this type of music video because its about a guy losing his dad and wishes his dad can hear him apologize when looking into the sky, so the music video narrates with the lyrics aswell, which gives it that sorrow feeling effect where people who have lost loved ones recentle can feel the pain, also the institution would like this video because its low budgeted unlike other music videos, this is because there is a lot of use of green, which you can add a lot of effect to which means in the long run the music video can still be eddited and that a lot of camera effects can be added to it.

The impact this video has to the audience is that, it makes the audience realise how deep the artist, means to his lyrics and that how much heart he has put into writing this song. The impact this has to the audience is that it makes them think twice about there loved ones and makes them think thats probable what i would be like if i done something bad before my parents died, i no i would do the same as the story in the music video. In reference to my music video i would definatle consider using green screen to add effect to my work and to give it some new styles.

Interpretative
what this means is that when a music video is playing and in the video they say i fell on to the floor, that is what you will see happen so its visually directed to the music lyrics and what happens in the music video, so heres an example Tenacious D Kickapoo

The institution would use this type of video because, its easy to understand and see what is going on, it also gets the message across quicker without the user having to think about, also the video has lyrics at the bottom of it as-well which adds more help if the listener cant understand the video which can also help disabled people with hearing difficulties, also the way this appeals to its target audience is by making the music video have more humor, which can make the appeal of the video be better, the impact this can have on the listener, is it might make them concentrate more on the video. I don't think i would be using this style for my music video because, i find it to simple and it seems a bit to cheap to me.

Impressionist
This is when the song can match the mood of the song and can make imagery, when the right effects are used, also some times the images of the video don't have to match the lyrics, so for instance

in this music video you can see it starts of with just brush twirl effects and as the video progresses you can start to see people but in a abstract type of form, which adds effect to the video. I reckon the institution would use this video because its different from everything else which makes the video more unique, the way it has impact on the audience is that it makes the audience think twice about what there thinking, so for instance they might think there about to see a tear coming down some ones face but actually if you look closely its something else.I would consider using this music video in the future to use some abstract form in my work.

Surrealism
This is about when a story builds up in a song and an element of surprise is about to happen that the viewer wont expect so for instance in this song, usher and R-kelly are singing about a girl they have met and it turns out to be the same girl but theres another twist to the story it turns out at the end it was twins they have been dating, so this shows the effects of surprise. The institution would like this style of song writing because for first time listener's they would get a good reaction which would promote word of mouth promotion. The impact it would have on the audience would be shock and humor but also they will feel the heart break at the beginning of the song.
I would deferentially consider using this songs effects in my music video adding the element of surprise to my viewers.

Animation
This is when music videos have animated sequences in them so for instance Sean Kingston face drop when, he turns himself into a animated character, I also found another video Kayne west heartless, where he's animated the whole video so he's animated and his girl,The institution would use this type of video because it doesn't need a lot of props which would make the video much cheaper, however it gives it a kiddy feeling and a professional animated mix to the music video, it also gives the audience a different insight to animation and the music industry.I would consider using that type of style because it takes a lot of time and patience to get it right but overall i really like it.

Intertextuality
what this means is that when watching a music video it refers to another in the lyrics, so for instance there is a music video that refers to family guy quagmire, The institution might use this in there music videos because they might be trying to gain more fame, from an artist or they might be trying to add humor into there song like this one is.The impact this song has to the audience is that it adds humour with an unexpected twist so for instance people weren't sure what he was on about but then when they knew who he was on about, every one joined in and loved the video, In future reference i will consider using films to combine with my song to see how much effect i can gain on the audience.

Pastiche/homage
what this means is when an artist takes an old song and changes slightly to make it a bit modern to fit with the times or they take a song and twist it slightly where people recognize where the original movements come from, so for instance this song is based on a busta rhymes track but, actually its homage because you can see the dance moves that busta rhymes uses so for instance shaking his shoulders, the impact this has on the users is that it adds a sense of wonder and makes people think why would they do stuff like that but in fact it adds more fame for the original artist, for future reference i will probable not use this type of style, because i think it is pointless and not unique.

analysing my song

These are the lyrics to my song
Intro: Babe shake ,Eliblink . Babe shake ,jimmy jatt . Babe shake , I don come . Shake ur waist, twist dem ,make u shake and wine for me .

Repeat chorus
Lastly: just go down shake it hard now shake it hard think about it O.............hey
Now shake shake shake shake make u shake and wine 4 me (2x)
Repeat chorus

Section 1-Target Audience
The target audience is more for men, this is because this song is about the male gaze and we know this by the lyrics where it says "just go down shake it hard now shake it hard think about it" What he is doing is making sexual gestures and saying he wants the girl to go down on him.The interests about this song is about sexual desire and the way he wants women then he makes references to parting and having a good time, so the general target audience for this song is 18 plus and for people who like grime/reggae. I would also say that this song isn't set for one type of ethnic background and it is about women in general and how every male participant in this world would like to have a women dancing on them .

Section 2-Lyrics
The lyrics is about a guy who is on the dance floor and starts dancing with this women, he likes the way she can twist and shake her body "Shake ur waist, twist dem ,make u shake and wine for me" . , so when his friends see her they start tripping and they cant believe what there seeing "d way u shake am , see my frds dey trip", and when its nearing the end of the music video in the lyrics he says he going to buy her a star and he starts to get romantic, so by the end of the video he starts to mentions taking her home so she can for fill his sexual desires by kissing his lips and have her calling his name eliblink. "wen I kiss ur lips u go halla eliblink". Also the intro of the song starts out very nice pitch and tone of voice, this then builds up half way through nearing the chorus and in the video you can see more excitement is about to happen with the artist this then has a twist with him realizing his friends are shocked with what they are seeing, then during the ending he ends up taking a girl home and doing what he pleases with her.

Section 3-Music
In the music video you can hear that the video starts of with the clicking of fingers, it is then followed by the sound of an electric synthesizer which then adds to the effect of the beat giving it that special edge that every music video needs however when the beat drops you can notice it is followed with a drum beat, what this does it adds more sole into the beat allowing all the effects to build up for a moment building momentum and realising it at one specific point making the beat sit with the music lyrics. This type of song is very stereo typical because all you have to do is visualize the song which gives you an image in your head without looking at the music video, it also shows how artist branding come in effect when you try and pick out key things about the artist so for instance his accent which is Nigerian who is from an black African ethic background.

Section 4-tempo
The music tempo in this song is very nice and smooth to start of with so for instance when you listen to the track you can see the music tempo starting to increase in the background, what this does is it adds effect to the music video making it liven up a bit, it also decreases at some points for instance at 2minutes you notice it drop giving it that feeling of mystery and making you curious to focus on that part of the song, also the tempo can help the artist feel into the zone when singing giving him that good pace of which he sings hes lyrics with, overall without the tempo the song wouldn't sound right and would be out of synch with the lyrics.

Section 5-video
I decided to pick this video because i can visually sense a way i can make a difference to the video, for instance this video is about how he likes the way the girl shakes, so instead of him standing there dancing with her i would have them on a boat and facing the wind so you can see her hair go up and down in the wind and then i would make her jump up and down in order to show how she can shake her body, this will give the video a more sophisticated feeling but a modern twist to it. Also when he mentions hes friends start tripping in the music video i would, of had them walk towards the girl and make them all trip over a wire on the floor giving the video a bit of humor but also making the lyrics narrate with the song.

99 Dolar Music Videos

What is 99Dollarsmusicvideos ?
99 dollar music videos is a company which sets its users a target in which to make its videos in one day and to use 99 dollars or less, they also give you a strict rule where you have to do the video with the artist and collaborate each others ideas with one and other. Once you finished making your music video, the film maker will then submit the music video to the 99 dollars crew and then will let you know when they will upload on their YouTube channel for people to view and rate, this also gives a chance for film makers to show what they can do with 99$ and prove to future employers how good they are.

What is there ethos ?
99 dollars ethos is that they wish to keep every one on track and to make them stick to the rules, they also want the artist and the film maker to be creative with there work and to try and produce the best to there standards, however any cheating will result into the music video not being uploaded.

What Type of songs, labels genre appear on their website ?
The company focuses on people who have not yet made in respects to becoming famous. The website focuses on independent artists who haven't got a lot of money to spend, so in order they give them a budget of 99$ to make the video, that's why signed artists are not allowed to post a video on their you tube channel due to the fact they might bend the rules with more props because they have more money and outwitting the people who stuck to the rules. The website also has a wide ranged of genres and different types of music they cover R&B, hip hop, indie, rock etc. however the website to me personally covers more of indie and rock due to the fact that's how rockers wants themselves to be herd.

Encourage audience participation ?
The website encourages a lot of unsigned users to express there feelings in music without having to worry about to much of the fancy crops they have, also recently transferred there website onto a you tube channel in hope they can catch worldwide attention, through the hard work they put in however, they also have other websites to try and make people aware of there scheme and promote their website, for instance they have Facebook pages, twitter, Hotmail etc, so what this does is it makes it far more assessable then it is in order to try and catch the audience attention. The company also advertise there logo in order to catch the audiences attention due to the fact it mentions money "$99", they also add advertisement in the start of a music video for about 5 seconds to show who worked with the film makers and song artists to make the video.

Can $99 make it professional?
In some aspects yes but in some it has failed for an instance the videos are what you expect it to be because of the low budget however, this video really surprised me Scream Hello - Goodbye (New Brunswick) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rFKHbJvEWA&list=SP36D5F678BE662629
the music video seemed to appeal to the audience due to its humor, and it really didn't look bad for $99 worth of video, you can see a rock and roll genre and they way they make this feel professional, is due to there commitment and roles in the music video it was well planned out and so far i would say it is the best music video out there.
